With 2018 just around the corner, and bearing in mind December is your busiest trading month of the year so the less stress the better. I’ve put together a list of 5 things for you to try this month to close out this year and prepare for the year to come…
Every year has its challenges, however I invite you to take the time to look back at all the wonderful and amazing things that have happened. Your year may have been filled with highs and lows and this is all part of your journey as a salon owner.
So pour yourself a cup of something delicious, put your feet up and take as long you need to write down all the good things that came into your life in 2017 – goals you achieved, lovely new friends you made, blessings that surprised you, dream clients you love working with…list them all – big and small and say to yourself: “Yes! What else is possible for me in 2018!
ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR LESSONS
What lessons did 2017 hold for you? Really reflect and ask yourself if you’ve embraced these lessons and used them to take your life to the next level.
Are there any lessons that you’re still resisting? When we fail to accept what life is trying to teach us, we fall into the trap of having to go through the same lesson over and over until we finally get it.Don’t let 2018 be a repeat of 2017. Acknowledge whatever epiphanies came into your life this year and remember to carry them with you as you move forward.
I’ve heard it said that we cannot accept anything new if our hands are closed tight upon the old. However when we open our hearts and minds to everything that the upcoming new year has to offer us, we need to let go of whatever has been holding us back.
Maybe you’ve missed a big goal and you feel a bit stuck in feelings of disappointment, or there’s someone you need to forgive for something and it’s keeping you from making peace with the past and yourself. Break free from the clutter by making the decision to let go, forgive, and embrace a fresh mindset right now.
TAKE A HALF-DAY OFF
As salon owners we usually work all the time, sometimes even when we are with family. Give yourself half a day to pamper yourself, do dinner with friends, have a movie night with your family. It gives you new perspective and helps you smile more often.
GET READY TO HAVE A MAGICAL YEAR
Let go of any goals you set for yourself in 2017 that you didn’t achieve. Give yourself permission to park these goals and allow yourself to come back to it when you have time or assess do you really want that particular goal.
Don’t beat yourself up about it – LIFE HAPPENS.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with goals that seem too far-fetched, that makes you feel like your goal isn’t attainable. Instead set incremental goals, which feel achievable, so you can build momentum, without feeling like you’re completely out of your depth.
Be you, be beautiful and follow your heart.
